Robyn är Årets svensk 2010

– Jag gör det som är viktigt för mig själv, och sen om det kan inspirera andra människor så är det skitroligt. Det är jättefint och något jag blir glad över, säger Robyn själv.

Utmärkelsen Årets svensk delas sedan 2006 ut av nyhetsmagasinet Fokus.

Första året gick priset till Masoud och Shahnaz Garakoei för deras exceptionella civilkurage när de vägrade låta sig utpressas av mc-maffian.

2007 belönades kommunalrådet i Haparanda, Sven-Erik Bucht, för att han lyckades vända utvecklingen i sin kommun från utflyttning till expansion och framtidstro.

2008 mottog Anita Dorazio priset för sitt uthålliga, engagerade och målmedvetna arbete för flyktingars rättigheter.

Förra året gick utnämningen till professor Johan Rockström för att han gjort vetenskapen om människans påverkan på naturen begriplig.

Juryn för Årets svensk består av Sven-Olof Bodenfors, Annika Åhnberg, Erik Blix, Kajsa Bergqvist, Margareta Garpe och Martin Ahlquist (ordförande).

Swede Of The Year 2010 – Robin Carlsson (Robyn, musician)

An unanimous jury has decided to this year award Swede Of The Year to Robin Carlsson with the following motivation.

»In her ways and with her conscious artistry she has proven that it is possible to reach the highest levels of popular music without being shallow. By releasing her records on her own label she demonstrates great entrepreneurship, which also enables her to have complete control over her creative process. In all her characteristics she is a role model to both young girls, boys as well as to men and women.«

- I do things that are important to me, and if that in turn can inspire other people that’s marvellous. It is something nice and something that makes me glad, says Robyn.

Swede Of The Year has been awarded by the weekly news magazine Fokus since 2006.

The first award was given to Masoud and Shahnaz Garakoei for their exceptional courage in refusing to let themselves be extortioned by biker gangs.

In 2007 the mayor of the town Haparanda recieved the reward, for reversing the decline of his municipality, from emigration to expansion and optimism for the future.

In 2008 Anita Dorazio was awarded for her sustained and engaged work for the rights of refugees.

Last years Swede Of The Year was Johan Rockström, for making the science of mans impact on nature understandable.

The jury consists of Sven-Olof Bodenfors, Annika Åhnberg, Erik Blix, Kajsa Bergqvist, Margareta Garpe and Martin Ahlquist (chairman).
